To support Dementia Action Week (16 - 22 May), in partnership with Home Instead Watford and Alzheimer's Society , there will be multiple activities throughout the week to mark the occassion and to support Watford in becoming a Dementia Friendly community.
On Monday 16 May, Watford Borough Council with Dementia Friendly Watford and the Alzheimer's Society, will be hosting a Dementia Friends session at Watford Leisure Centre Central, Peace Prospect, Watford, WD17 3HA from 3pm - 5pm.
During this free interactive information seminar, you will learn how dementia affects a person and what you can do to make a difference to those living with dementia in your community. For more information, please contact Councillor Jenny Pattison on 07515468580.
On Thursday 19 May, you are invited to our 'Dementia Party by the Pond', from 9am - 5pm, at the Town Centre Event Space (by the pond), there will be musical and dance performances along with personal training sessions and market stalls offering advice and support on living with dementia. There will also be refreshments kindly provided by Morrisons.
Virtual Reality Dementia Awareness Bus | 9am - 4:30pm | Will allow you enter the world of someone living with dementia and understand the simple changes need to be made to their practice and environment to really improve their lives. Trishaw Rides | 9am - 4:30pm | Watford Cycle Hub will be providing Trishaw rides for those living with dementia and their carers.
BEEE Creative | 10:30am – 12:30pm | The BEEE Creative dancers will be performing their Dance Re:Ignite Tour and holding workshops to support those with dementia and their carers.
Jonathan Stevens | 1:30pm - 2:20pm | A music performance for all to enjoy.
Sam Torabi | 3pm - 4pm | A physical training session, for those of all abilities to enjoy.
